My parents are trying to find a TV for our exercise room. So If anyone wants to help me TV hunt here are the requirements.

Price limit: around $400

Minimum size: 40"

It has to be LCD as opposed to LED or Plama as it's in a room that gets a lot of sun and so the TV needs a matte finish.

And that's about it! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have a Costco nearby? They usually have the TVs set up so you can actually get some idea of what they look like, and they have a very generous return / support policy and good pricing.

Also, I wouldn't rule out an LED TV necessarily; if I understand correctly this generally refers to the backlighting type—an LED TV is actually an LCD element lit from behind by LEDs. Ours is an "LED" TV but the image is actually from LCDs, and it has a matte finish to the screen.

Sorry I don't have more specific recommendations, but you might check Consumer Reports for some of their "best buys."

Vizio.

I haven't shopped LCD in a long time. I have 2 LED LG's and never have a problem with glare, but if you're worried about it LCD makes sense. I had a Vizio before, and my parents have a Vizio: they're great TVs and traditionally priced really well

I think so, but you can still get 720p TVs. Just be mindful of what you're getting.

I follow'd the animelopnik blog, if you need a mod, I'm in. Thanks.

Coincidentally, my uncle and I went to get a new TV to replace his rear projection TV. He got a Vizio, I came to Best Buy and loaded it up in the Forester, and we came home. Opened it up, bam. CRACK IN THE SCREEN :(

Returned that shit.

I know you said 40" min but I am very happy with our 32"s - our living room is small and the other is in the bedroom. I could have gone bigger but am quite happy with them. I also set everything to 720 and it looks great (and uses less bandwidth).

Also, Samsung and LG both have great screens. I would def. get another Samsung, and the apps on it are good too.

"LED" simply refers to the backlight..(which has different types, edge lit, local dimming etc..) but it's still an LCD. Don't have a specific recommendation, but just sayin..
